Instructions for Authors

Abstracts, papers and their final versions should be submitted electronically via dedicated pages

  • paper submission (note: paper must not contain authors' data!): (will be available soon)
  • conference registration (for those who do not submit any paper): (will be available soon)
If you have any problems using these forms, please contact us at jacek.wachowicz@zie.pg.gda.pl. If the problem persists, a paper can be submitted by email as well. In this case, please send the abstract and the paper in two separate attachments to jacek.wachowicz@zie.pg.gda.pl. It is also posible (though not recommended) to submit by traditional mail - in that case please send 3 copies of the paper together with 1 copy of the abstract to:
    Jacek Wachowicz
    ECOM Series Organizing Chair
    Wydzial Zarzadzania i Ekonomii Politechniki Gdanskiej
    ul. Narutowicza 11/12
    80-952 Gdansk, Poland
Note that sending a paper via traditional mail may take a couple of days - and the paper must reach the Organizing Committee before the submission deadline.

Papers must be written in English. All important dates can be found here.

Editorial notes

A submission is supposed to consist of two separate parts:
  • the abstract (up to 170 words), including also the title of the paper, the authors' names together with their affiliations and email addresses, and a contact address (preferably email);
  • the text of the paper itself - with no information about authors. Please keep in mind that the final version of the paper (which will include also the authors' names, the abstract etc.) should not exceed 8 pages. An additional fee will be charged for pages exceeding the limit (see the details here).
The format of the paper must be PDF, Postscript or MS-Word 97. The abstract can be submitted in any format. We strongly recommend using Springer Verlag templates and guidelines when preparing the paper. The class file for LaTeX2e is llncs.cls; you can also download the whole package as a ZIP archive. sv-lncs.dot is the Word template for PC systems, and ecom_eng.doc contains an example Word document with all the necessary styles defined. The Word template for Macintosh is sv-lncs. A complete ZIP archive is also available.
There is a lot of different templates being used, for both Economics and Computer Science journals and proceedings. We have chosen the Lecture Notes in Computer Science package because it's well developed and widely used.

For those who do not want to (or cannot) use the templates we offer some instructions with respect to the text layout:

  • the page format should be A4, and the printing area should be 122mm x 193mm (left margin = right margin = 4.4cm, top margin = bottom margin = 5.2cm);
  • the main text should be set to 10-point Roman or Times font with single-lined spacing, and justified to occupy the whole line width. In consequence, some 45 lines should occur on a full-text page;
  • the title should be 14-point bold, centered;
  • subtitles: the 1st-level headings (section titles) - 12 point bold, justified; the 2nd- and the 3rd-level headings (subsection titles) - 10 point bold, justified;
  • please produce your figures electronically (if possible) and integrate them with the text of your paper into one file. If you cannot provide your figures electronically, paste originals into the manuscript and center them between the margins. Please remember that in both cases the figures will be reproduced in black and white!
  • the list of references (headed simply "References") should be placed at the end of the paper.

As soon as we receive your paper and manage to print it out, we will notify you by email, so please check your mailbox frequently after submitting an paper! And do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or problems.

If you need some rest while preparing the paper, you may read how you can have your paper rejected. The manual was prepared mainly for mathematicians. Most remarks, however, are pretty universal.

Preparing the final version of a paper

After the notification of acceptance, the authors of accepted papers will have to prepare camera-ready versions of their papers. The final version of a paper must conform to the reviewers' remarks, and has to be prepared with LaTeX2e or Word using Springer style/template definitions (see above). The submission is electronic - the appropriate Word file or Latex (self-contained) package should be uploaded using the link at the top of this page, or sent to jacek.wachowicz@zie.pg.gda.pl.

The final version of a paper should include: the title, the authors' names with their affiliations and email addresses, an abstract, the text of the paper, and the list of references (bibliography). The whole paper should not exceed 8 pages, or an additional charge must be paid (see the details here). The layout requirements are the same as before.
